About the artwork
Also known as Red Fuji, this print from Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji shows the mountain glowing red in early-morning light, under a sky of small white clouds. It is one of the simplest and boldest designs in the series: a blue sky with rows of clouds, the red cone and a dark band of forest. The large calm areas make it a relaxing stitch with a striking result.
