The Raising of Lazarus Made Simple

The Raising of Lazarus -- four days in the tomb, then the voice of Jesus: the resurrection and the life (John 11:1-44).

The Raising of Lazarus Made Simple is a Bible-first walk through John 11, verse by verse. Twelve devotional chapters trace the whole story: the village Jesus loved, the sickness not unto death, the strange two-day wait, the sleeping friend, Martha on the road, the great "I am the resurrection, and the life," the shortest verse ("Jesus wept"), the stone rolled away, the prayer to the Father, the loud cry -- "Lazarus, come forth" -- and the unbinding: "Loose him, and let him go."

Explicitly Trinitarian: the Father who ordains and is glorified, Jesus Christ -- Son of God and Son of Man, Lord and Savior -- who is the resurrection and the life, and the Holy Spirit who alone quickens dead hearts and strips away the graveclothes. Every prayer is to the Father, through Jesus Christ, by the Holy Spirit. Freedom and new life come by the Spirit's power, never by human willpower.

Read one chapter a day. Dead. Called. Unbound.
