Objectives

Many students of English study the language in the hope that they can communicate with a wide range of people from English-speaking countries. They also hope to improve their understanding of other countries, the people who live in those countries, and how all the different cultures, languages and religions fit into the world they live in. This series of lessons intends to shed some light on these topics, and in doing so enable the student not only to know and understand the world better, but also to express what they know and understand in the English language.

The objectives of these lessons can thus be summed up as follows:

·        to enrich the general knowledge of the student on a range of topics

·        to enable the student to have a discussion on these topics in English
