TIPS FOR PAINTING THEM

Dahlias are layered petals — paint the back petals first in a pale wash, the middle ring second, the front petals last when the back has dried. Centres are tightly packed; suggest with dotted darks rather than drawing each floret. Perfect for watercolour, but they work beautifully as colouring pages too if that's your thing.
