To Be Honest — 4-Piece AI-Assisted Digital Collage Collection
Every piece in this collection started with the same question: what does it actually look like when someone stops performing and just... tells the truth?
To Be Honest is a four-piece digital collage series built at the intersection of human direction and AI-assisted image generation. I worked with AI tools the way a painter works with a new brush — testing, layering, rejecting, refining — until each piece said what I actually wanted it to say, rather than whatever the algorithm suggested first. A lone figure looks up at a moon wrapped in smoke-colored light, caught in a quiet, private kind of wonder. A face is split down the middle by two very different skies, cool on one side and blazing on the other, like the two versions of ourselves we show the world versus the one we keep private. Bold, hand-painted-style letters spell out the collection's name directly onto a canvas of clashing color, because sometimes honesty isn't subtle. And a hooded figure stands at the edge of a burning sunset, watching smaller versions of himself reflected in the water below — memory looking back at the present.
None of these images exist in the physical world. They were shaped through AI generation and then curated, composed, and finished with real creative decisions about mood, color, and meaning. That's the honest part: this is AI-assisted art, made with intention, not a random output. I wanted a collection that was upfront about how it was made and still stands on its own as something worth hanging on a wall.
