Year 9 Unit 3: Identity, Gender and Media Influence (15 lessons)

What shapes identity, gender expectations, body image, social media, food and mood, marketing, influencers, digital wellbeing and pornography, ending in action on harmful messages.

Year 9 Unit 4: Sexual Wellbeing, Safety and Action (15 lessons)

Puberty and change, period dignity, values and whānau, bodily autonomy, consent and the law in Aotearoa, readiness, media messages, reliable information and confidential support.

Year 10 Unit 1: Relationships and Social Situations (15 lessons)

Reading social situations, emotional regulation, inclusion and exclusion, hidden power in groups, discrimination, assertive communication, bullying and safe action, and creating inclusive communities.

Year 10 Unit 2: Consent, Power and Influence (15 lessons)

Consent in complex situations, power and real choice, coercion, social and gender norms, alcohol and other drugs, intoxication, digital pressure, parties, harm reduction, bystander action and disclosure.

Year 10 Unit 3: Identity, Media and Society (15 lessons)

Identity in a media world, stereotypes and bias, gender rules, body image and fitness culture, food access and culture, nutrition misinformation, algorithms, digital wellbeing, pornography and harmful media.

Year 10 Unit 4: Sexual Wellbeing and Health Decisions (15 lessons)

Sexual wellbeing and hauora, values and culture, legal consent, healthy sexual relationships, contraception, condoms, STIs and testing, harmful sexual behaviour, misinformation, access to care and reducing shame.
