Oceans & Tides — The Evidence-Based Designer, Grade 6 Learning Lab

Oceans & Tides is a Grade 6 project-based learning mission where learners design a tidal research harbour that works with the sea instead of against it. Over six short sessions (about 35 minutes, one a day, with the final build over the weekend), learners write a documentary-style script explaining the tides, work through tide-table maths and a line graph, fair-test which materials float best, map a harbour site that balances boats, people, trade and coastal protection, build a coastal systems board, then design, build and present a tidal harbour.
