Fiction Ghostwriter Skill Builder — Custom Claude Skill for Authors
Answer 10 questions. Get a custom Claude skill file that drafts your chapters in your pen name's voice — every time, no re-explaining required.
Every time you open Claude, it starts from zero.
It doesn't know your pen name. It doesn't know your heat level. It doesn't know that your heroine would never say that, or that your villain uses dry humor instead of menace. You spend 20 minutes re-explaining context — and the draft still comes back generic.
There's a fix for that. It's called a skill file.
What this is
The Fiction Ghostwriter Skill Builder is an interactive tool that takes your specific setup — your pen name, your genre, your heat level, your voice — and builds a custom Claude skill file that holds all of that permanently.
Install it once. From that point on, Claude drafts chapters as your pen name, in your voice, following your rules — without you having to remind it of anything.
What you get
The Skill Builder — a step-by-step interactive tool that asks you the right questions and generates your customized skill file in minutes. Works in your browser. No coding. No technical setup.
Your generated SKILL.md — a complete, ready-to-install Claude skill file with:
- Your pen name voice profile (genre, heat level, voice notes)
- Your custom banned character names (first names, last names, anything you never want Claude to use)
- Your personal stop word — one word you type when something's wrong and you want Claude to immediately stop, find the problem, and fix it
- The complete AI-cliché banned list — every phrase that makes prose read like it came from a robot ("a beat of silence," "the air between them," "couldn't help but," and 40+ more)
- All 11 craft rules for fiction prose — single POV, show-don't-tell, no timestamps in narration, varied sentence openings, ending mid-scene with momentum
- The Does-It-Fit logic gate — a 6-question pass that checks every chapter for broken causality, out-of-character choices, convenient props, and continuity errors. This one check catches what five prose reviews miss.
- Heat calibration for your heat level (clean through scorching — the skill knows the difference)
- The no-fabrication rule — Claude pauses and flags missing facts rather than inventing them and shipping the lie
- A progress tracker template — track every chapter from prompt-ready through approved, across your whole manuscript
Two versions available:
- Single pen name — one voice, one genre, focused and clean
- Multiple pen names — the skill knows all your brands and never lets them bleed into each other
Who this is for
- Romance and fiction authors who use Claude (or want to start) for drafting
- Authors who are tired of re-explaining their pen name every session
- Authors who've gotten a "fine but generic" draft and want something that sounds like them
- Authors writing in multiple genres or under multiple pen names who need to keep voices separate
- Anyone who's ever said "Claude doesn't know my style" — this is how you fix that
Who this is NOT for
- Authors who don't use Claude
- Authors looking for a pre-written book (this builds a skill, not a manuscript)
- Beginners who haven't tried Claude for fiction yet — try it first, then come back and upgrade your setup
How it works
- Open the Skill Builder in your browser

- Draft your next chapter — Claude already knows the rules
Takes about 10 minutes. You set it up once. It works every session after that.
One-time purchase. Yours to keep.
This is a digital product. You download it once, install it in Claude, and it's yours. No subscription. No re-buying. The skill file belongs to you — you can edit it, update it, and build on it as your pen name evolves.
Frequently asked questions
What version of Claude does this work with? Claude Sonnet (recommended) or any Claude model. Works in Claude.ai and Claude desktop apps.
Do I need to know how to code? No. The Skill Builder does the technical work. You answer questions in plain language and get a ready-to-install file.
Can I use this for multiple pen names? Yes — choose the "multiple pen names" option in the builder. The skill can hold up to as many pen names as you need.
What if I want to update my skill later? Your SKILL.md is a plain text file. You can open it in any text editor and update your voice notes, add banned names, or adjust your heat calibration whenever your writing evolves.
Does this work if I write clean romance? Yes. Heat 1 and 2 settings are fully supported. The skill knows the difference between a clean closed-door and a scorching explicit scene — you set the level, it respects it.
I write thrillers / fantasy / other genres — does this work? The craft rules and logic gate are universal to all fiction. The heat calibration is romance-focused, but everything else applies to any genre. The voice notes section lets you describe any genre's voice.
