GOOD IMPRESSIONS COWL

Worked in the round (bottom up/ top down are the same).

Established Beginner Skills: Work in the round, BO in pattern, Longtail CO, knit, purl, pick up and knit 1 stitch.

Simple, elegant and visually interesting.

Omission of ribs in select placements creates a widened divot effect where the ribs appear to lean.

  • US 7 (4.5 mm) Needles - Or size that gets gauge/desired fabric.
  • Row Counter
  • Stitch Markers (11 plus 1 different)
  • Tapestry Needle

MEASUREMENTS

  • 10.5” (26.5 cm) Tall by 32” (81.25 cm) Circumference

GAUGE

Gauge is not critical, but will affect size and yarn requirements.

Sample Gauge

Lightly Blocked 4 by 4 Rib Stitch

23 stitches by 24 rounds = 4” (10 cm) Square

NOTES

The repeat multiple is 16.

To adjust circumference, add or subtract multiples of 16 at CO.

Each 16 stitch repeat is approximately 2.64” (6.7 cm) wide.

Note on Texture and Care

Please treat your swatch as you will your finished piece to decide on the fabric you like.

My sample piece was soaked and dried flat and it lost a lot of the dimension of texture. To fully retain dimension, do not block it and use dry cleaning.

If you want more dimension and the ability to wash I suggest going down 2 needle sizes. The final dimensions will, of course, be smaller. You may adjust for circumference with extra repeats and for height with extra rib rounds.
