Once you've begun using Ladderback Jacquard as the solution for long stranding, you'll find you want to incorporate it into even more of your knitting.
In this class, we'll explore more advanced use cases for Ladderback Jacquard, including working with three or colors and knitting flat, as we work the Briar Rose mug rug using multiple advanced techniques. We'll also dive into charting your own ladders, exploring best practices and enjoying colorwork without limitations.
Whether you're tweaking existing patterns or developing your own colorwork, these special techniques open up even more possibilities for colorwork designs you thought you couldn't knit before.
Supplies: You will need approximately 30 yards of worsted to aran-weight yarn in each of three contrasting colors and your choice of needles in a compatible size (US #7-9) suitable for working flat. Since the Briar Rose Mug Rug design includes a rose on a plain background, you may want to your colors to include a shade of green, a shade suitable for a flower (like red, pink, yellow, or purple), and a background color that the other two will show well against (like white, gray, or any color that contrasts with the other two), colored pencils, crayons, or markers.
Homework: Cast on 25 stitches and work Rows 1 and 2 of the Briar Rose Mug Rug Chart with your green and white yarns. Alternatively, you may cast on with just the green yarn and work two rows in garter stitch.
Level: Advanced — Students should already be comfortable knitting ladderback jacquard in two colors in the round. If you've taken my Ladderback Jacquard class, you know everything you need to know for this class.
Day and Time: Class takes place Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm Pacific Time (5:30 pm Mountain/6:30 pm Central/7:30 pm Eastern) via Zoom.
You will receive an instruction sheet with Zoom access info immediately upon purchasing the class. If you don't see the download instructions in your email inbox, please check your spam filter and then reach out to me.
I will record this virtual class session and make the recording available to registered participants for 30 days after the date of the class, so if something prevents you from attending, you will still have access to the class recording and all materials.
