Build the sign that carries the family name: routed into a pine or cedar board with a 90-degree V-bit and paint-filled so the letters read crisp and shadowed against the stain — no CNC needed. This 5-page PDF plan (Build Plan No. 7 in the Fox Feather Farms winter series) makes the 24 x 8 in (61 x 20 cm) family-name sign with an established-date line. Inside: a dimensioned layout diagram plus a V-groove cross-section, a cut list, a full materials list with per-line costs in Canadian dollars (about $10 typical per sign), the tools required, finishes and wait times, and a 6-step build summary — print the lettering full-size, glue it to the board, route through the paper, seal, paint-fill, and sand the face to reveal the letters. A size lineup covers an 18 x 6 in name-only sign and a 30 x 10 in porch size, both built the same way, and the lettering can be hand-painted through a stencil instead of routed if you prefer. Batch tips, a materials recap, and safety notes round it out. Personal use only — print and use as often as you like for yourself or as gifts; please don't redistribute the files or resell them.

What you need: A pine 1x8 board (or cedar), a router with a 90-degree V-bit for the routed version (or a stencil and detail brushes), jigsaw or table saw, sander, and a printer for the full-size lettering template.
