In the Bleak Midwinter (Mid-Winter Carol by Holst arranged for late elementary piano)

When my daughter was seven, she was in love with the American Girl dolls. This song is used in the background of one of the movies. I wrote this arrangement for her 8th birthday and she played it for me for Christmas. Such sweet memories! I would love to hear other students play it as well!

I've included part of the beautiful poem by Christina Rossetti in the music to bring depth to the piece for those playing it:

In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.

Angels and archangels may have gathered there,
Cherubim and seraphim thronged the air;
But His mother only, in her maiden bliss,
Worshipped the beloved with a kiss.

What can I give Him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.
