Rajah Revisted Quilt by Lessa Siegele

Rajah Revisited by Lessa Siegele – An Antique reproduction quilt, is an incredible quilt pattern based on the famous Rajah quilt.  The pattern can be Machine or English Paper Pieced.  It uses Applique and has the option for Broderie Perse in it's centre.

The Historical quilt is now held by the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra and was made by convict women aboard the ship "Rajah" which sailed to Australia in 1841.

This well written and well illustrated pattern contains instructions for a 67" x 67" (170cmx170cm) quilt which is a quarter scale of the original quilt.

It is truly a beautiful quilt.  The pattern can be made with or without the Broderie Perse centre.  Options for an alternative centre are included.

Lessa Siegele lives in South Australia and has been running quilting workshops and mystery quilt drives for many years. In 2007 she was awarded the Rajah Award which prompted her to seek permission and reproduce the quilt.

In 2002 Lessa was awarded the Order of Australia Medal,  for services to the art of quiltmaking as a teacher and to the community through fundraising.  She has fund raised for a local charity and has many years of experience as a quilt teacher.  You can read more about this awesome woman and her quilts at

This quilt was the The Quilt Show block of the month for 2016.

Measurements are in inches & centimetres. Two files are included.  One is the Rajah Revisited pattern and one has some photos of alternative centres to give you some ideas of the variations you could use.

The drawing diagrams for the reproduction of the original centre is included.
