Intonation in English · B1+/B2 · Pronunciation | No-Prep ESL Pronunciation Lesson
A ready-to-teach B1+/B2 pronunciation lesson on intonation: how pitch changes meaning.
Students warm up with the human rollercoaster, then learn three patterns: falling for statements, wh-questions and finished lists; rising for yes/no questions, uncertainty and unfinished lists; and fall-rise to sound polite, show reservation or leave something unsaid. A draw-the-rollercoaster memory trick and a pattern bank support four exercises: mark the arrow, same words with different meaning, reading lists aloud, and softening blunt sentences. A pair speaking task and a team guess-my-meaning game finish with energy.
