I have been in the Project Management profession for roughly 30 years. During this time, I have interviewed over 150 candidates for various Project Manager positions. Feel free to review my LinkedIn profile and Connect with me from here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/richweller34/

These questions have been grouped into key 15 categories. They cover the approaches of; Predictive (Traditional, Waterfall), Adaptive (Agile, Kanban, Scrum, SAFe) and Hybrid. The questions are drawn from the different phases of a project lifecycle (Initiation, Planning, Execution, Closure). They encompass people, process and technology related topics. Finally, the categories are in an order of priority based upon what I feel is most important for a Project Manager in today’s world.

The answers are “real-world” focused as opposed to straight quotes from the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). They are based upon my real-world experience in managing projects and leading PMO’s, but do note that the answers and terminology align with PMBOK, PMI’s approach to managing projects, as well as their knowledge library.

These answers provide you insight into what a good response might look LIKE. It is up to you to tailor your response based upon your background and experience.

These interview questions could be used for many roles related to Project Management: project manager, project management assistant, project coordinator, project specialist, project supervisor, project controller, project consultant, project executive, etc.

I am a college instructor, a project management consultant and speak at PMI (Project Management Institute) and MPUG (Microsoft Project Users Group).

I have an MBA, PMP, certified in MS Project various Agile related.
