This beginner course is designed for complete beginners or those with very little knowledge of Italian. Over 12 weeks, you will build strong foundations in speaking, understanding, and using Italian in everyday situations.

What You’ll Learn (Beginner A1)

This course gives you a clear, step by step introduction to Italian, focusing on real life communication from week one.

You will cover:

• Greetings and introductions so you can confidently start conversations
• Classroom language to ask questions and understand instructions
• Numbers, dates, days, and talking about birthdays
• Countries, nationalities, and where you live
• Basic grammar including articles, gender, and plurals
• Talking about your family and describing people
• Using connectives to build simple sentences
• Describing your town and using there is and there are
• Asking for directions and understanding responses
• Booking a hotel or restaurant in Italian
• Talking about the weather
• Discussing hobbies and free time

You will also practise key skills such as pronunciation, listening, and forming simple sentences so you can start communicating in Italian as quickly as possible.

This content is structured week by week, with clear objectives, vocabulary, and exercises to support your learning

Progress and Assessment

At the end of the 12 weeks, you will complete an online assessment which will be marked for you so you can clearly see your progress.

By the end of the course, you will be able to introduce yourself, understand basic conversations, and handle simple everyday situations in Italian.

Progression Pathway

After completing this beginner course, you can move on to A1+ where you will build on your knowledge and develop greater confidence.

The 12-week course includes a planned one-week break after Week 6, giving students time to consolidate their learning and return refreshed for the second half of the programme.
