NSW Selective Test Thinking Skills Practice, Year 5 and 6: 3 Timed 40-Question Tests with Worked Answers in Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean or Thai

Is your child sitting the NSW Selective High School Placement Test, and you want to help with Thinking Skills but find the questions hard to explain in English? This pack gives your child three full timed tests in English, at the level and pace of the real section, and gives you the worked answers in your own language so you can go through every question together at home.

What's inside (7 PDF files)

• Test 1, Test 2 and Test 3: 40 original Thinking Skills questions each (120 in total), timed at 40 minutes like the real Selective Thinking Skills section: one minute per question, 4 options each. Each test has an answer sheet, an answer key, a worked answer in English for every question, and a skills check showing which question types to practise next.
• Worked answers in 4 languages: one booklet each in Tiếng Việt, 中文 (Simplified Chinese), 한국어 and ไทย. Every one of the 120 questions is explained in your language, with the correct answer.
• Question types at Year 6 level: critical thinking (must be true, main conclusion, assumptions, strengthen and weaken, flaws in reasoning, applying rules, reading data), logic (ordering and timetables, codes, truth and lies, if-then chains, matching puzzles) and problem solving (patterns, time, rates and averages, area and volume, counting).

How to use it

Print a test, set a 40-minute timer, and let your child work alone. Mark it together with the answer key, then read the worked answers in your language and talk through every question your child missed. Do one test every week or two and compare the skills check each time.
