Reef Breeze

Reef Breeze Shawl

The Reef Breeze shawl was inspired not by man made architecture, but from one of mother natures greatest underwater creations. This shawl began life on a sunny beach off a glorious coral reef in the Caribbean, and ended on the sand dunes on a stormy overcast day in Ireland.

This is a top down crescent shaped shawl, with a garter tab start. Beginning with the back and forth ease of garter rows, introducing waves of horizontal stripes, the pattern echoes the sea. The border mimics the shape of fan coral using decreasing twisted ribbing. These fans are interspersed with simple panels of eyelet mesh mirroring the great star coral and end on either side with a sea horse tail kick.
