This stole is inspired by the architecture of The Glasgow Women’s Library. Founded in 1991 and housed since 2013 in a Grade B Listed Carnegie Library in Landressy Street, the library boasts a stunning modern granite extension which names the titles of important works by women.  The design follows the shape of this corner extension, itself enfolding the building like the covers of a book.

The GWL’s first - and only - librarian is Wendy Kirk.  She continues to promote the work of the building as a library, archive, museum and meeting space which celebrates women’s historical, cultural and political contributions which works actively to challenge inequality in society.

Printed copies of this pattern are also sold with permission directly from The Glasgow Women’s Library and costs contribute to their fundraising.
