Flat Pack Travel Tray
This is actually an "upgrade" from one of my earliest tutorials, the Cutting Corners Collapsible Travel Tray (for which a PDF is available if you go to my blog). But you've likely seen variations of this sort of tray, made out of a square. This one has the advantage of being collapsible for easy storage in your suitcase, via the elastic loops and buttons at the corners. It's also a great scrap-busting project!
Supplies required:
a couple of 8.5" (21.5cm) square pieces of fabric (or two Spoonflower swatches, cut with a 1/4" (6mm) seam allowance all the way around)
one 4" (10cm) square of Peltex (or substitute with whatever you have to provide structure; I actually recycled a piece of a blanket)
one 8" (20cm) square of fusible fleece (cut smaller than fabric to keep out of seam allowance)
two regular hair elastics
four 1/2" (12mm) diameter buttons (with shank)
FINISHED DIMENSIONS: Approximately 4" (10cm) square at the base; 1.5" (4cm) high.
