Nocturne in E-flat - solo vibraphone arrangement
This arrangement of Mikhail Glinka's Nocturne is an advanced work for solo vibraphone. The piece features sections of simplistic, beautiful melodies depicting the serenity of a quiet night, as well as agitated, energetic sections to add a sense of mystery to the composition. The arrangement is for a 3-octave (low F) vibraphone.
Nocturne in E-flat major is a relatively minor composition within Mikhail Glinka's body of work. Composed in 1828, it was not published until 50 years later in 1878, over 20 years after the composer's death. As such, there is very little specific information about this composition. My approach to this arrangement is largely based on Elizabeth Hainen's performance of the piece, which can be heard on her album Music for Solo Harp.
