The Altar and the Throne
The Altar and the Throne develops this conviction through the biblical language of priesthood and kingship. At the altar, we offer ourselves, worship, intercede and seek understanding. Through the image of the throne, we consider delegated responsibility, wise stewardship and faithful action. The altar forms our motives; our responsibilities reveal whether those motives have become obedience.
Jesus Christ is the foundation. He is the King and our great High Priest. We do not assume His unique saving office, and we do not replace His completed sacrifice. We belong to Him and share the calling of His royal priesthood. This identity is both personal and corporate: God forms a people who worship Him and proclaim His goodness together.
