Starting Solids
Starting solids is an exciting milestone, but it can also feel overwhelming. There is so much information out there that it can be hard to know what advice to follow. You may find yourself wondering if your baby is ready, whether you should start with purees or baby-led weaning, what foods to introduce first, and how to know if you are doing it right.
This guide was created to take some of the stress and uncertainty out of starting solids. It combines my personal experience as a mom of two with more than 20 years of professional experience as a feeding therapist working with hundreds of families.
My goal is to give you a simple framework to follow as you introduce your baby to solid foods and help you feel more confident throughout the process. You will learn what to look for when your baby is ready, how to introduce different foods and textures, how to safely progress feeding skills, and how to support a positive relationship with food from the beginning.
There is no one perfect way to start solids, and you do not have to follow every recommendation you come across. This guide is meant to give you the information and guidance you need to find an approach that works for you and your baby.
Most of all, I want you to feel confident in what you are doing and enjoy this new stage with your baby instead of worrying about getting everything exactly right.
