Duets where the viola plays the tune and the violin plays the harmony part!

A collection of 34 original tunes for viola with a violin harmony part, influenced by the folk traditions of England, Ireland, Scotland, and beyond.

I have added two options for a violin harmony part to these viola melodies, so they can be used as flexible duets. There is a standard violin harmony or a simple violin harmony, so this pack can be used with violists of a range of abilities.

Scores Included

I have provided a range of different versions of the score, so that this pack of music caters for various different situations, ranging from an experienced violist and less experienced violinist (who might want to only play the simple harmonies) to a duo in which both players have equal experience or a more experienced violinist, in which the violinist might want to vary which part they play at different times during a full arrangement.

In this duet pack, you will receive the following scores:

·     A copy of my tunebook, Round the Back of Dandelion Street, for solo viola, with chord symbols for e.g. guitar. This is the melody, played by the violist, and the violin harmony parts can be added to this.

·     Full score with the two options for violin harmony parts. The viola part is presented as a small stave to save space, so the violin player can follow the melody but each tune still fits on two pages.

·     Just the two violin harmony parts (no melody)

·     The viola part and the standard violin harmony

·     The viola part and the simple violin harmony

·     The simple violin harmony as a single part

·     The standard violin harmony as a single part

Recordings

I have recorded a few of the tunes with the harmony parts to demonstrate the difference between the standard and simple violin parts, and to give a general idea of what they sound like. These are included in the download, and you can also listen to them before purchase here.
