The Maya shawl is knitted flat using a mosaic knitting technique to achieve a lovely 2 colour textured pattern. Drawing inspiration from beautiful, traditional tile pattern repeats this incredibly comforting shawl will give you that extra little bit of warmth on cold days.

Mosaic knitting has quickly become a favourite method to play with patterns, colours and shape in my work. The patterns are pleasingly simple and repetitive, and yield beautiful detailed results.

This listing is for a digital PDF of the knitting pattern and NOT a finished garment. You should receive your download shortly after purchase.

What you’ll need:

  • 400g/800m of aran weight yarn in 2 contrasting colours (200g/400m of each) - When selecting your yarn be aware that weight and yardage will vary. The sample you see in the photos was knitted using Cascade 220 aran in Pumpkin Spice (2453) and Galaxy (4006)
  • 4mm/ US6 and 4.5mm/US7 circular needles (100cm/39” length). If you have interchange- able needles or a few 4.5mm/US7 circulars you might want to start on a smaller cable length for comfort and swap out the cables for longer lengths as the piece grows. This isn’t necessary, just personal preference.
  • Darning needle/blunt end needle.
  • Stitch markers x 4.
