It was a bright summer morning when Elara and her brother Ordik found a strange device in the attic of their family's old stone cottage. It looked like an oversized flashlight with a long tube at the end and a large bulbous lens. The surface of the device was covered in buttons, dials, and glowing green screens labeled with mysterious symbols Elara couldn't read.

"What is this thing?" Ordik asked and curiously turned the device in his hand.

"Maybe it's a witch's wand or a wand," Elara replied with an odd grin. "I bet if we shine it on something, it'll go away in a puff of smoke!"

"Let me do it, I'm the master now," said Ordik, placing the device against his shoulder like a gun. He pointed the lens at a nearby dusty box and pressed a switch.

To their amazement, a bright emerald beam of light shot out and engulfed the box! When the light went out, the box was gone, replaced by a tiny wooden box no bigger than Ordik's little finger.

"God willing!" Ordik gasped. "I made it shrink!"

"I want to try too," Elara insisted, grabbing the device from her brother. Giggling, she waited until Ordik was distracted, then quickly placed a light directly on the back of his head.

"Aarrrghh! What did you do?!" Ordik screamed. He looked down and saw that his own body was rapidly shrinking, his arms and legs shortened and his clothes bulky. In seconds, he had been reduced to the size of a miniature insect! The now tiny boy fell off a nearby table and landed directly on the floor.

Elara smiled happily at her little brother's predicament. "Just a little prank, squirt. I'll change you back later...but know I'll have fun with you!"

As Elara was standing near her little brother still looking at him giggling, their mother Orma suddenly burst into the room quickly. "What is this mess?!" Mother was wearing heavy wooden shoes with heels.

Mother did not see little Ordik lying on the floor...
