A meal plan designed to decrease inflammation in the body (A 7-day plan including recipes and shopping list)

Inflammation is a natural part of our immune response. But in conditions like lipoedema, inflammation can run rampant and wreak havoc.

Inflammation is responsible for the presence and progression of lipoedema. Keeping it under control helps us to manage the condition.

This anti-inflammation meal plan is free from common inflammatory foods like dairy, gluten and soy. It features powerful anti-inflammatory ingredients like turmeric and omega-3s that will help decrease inflammation.

This meal plan is carefully designed to address key drivers of lipoedema; chronic inflammation, oxidative stress and poor lymphatic flow, by incorporating foods rich in therapeutic nutrients. Here are some of the key nutrients we've included and why:

Polyphenols

Polyphenols are plant compounds that help calm inflammation and reduce oxidative stress, both of which are believed to play a major role in the progression of lipoedema. Curcumin is included; it has well-documented anti-inflammatory properties and has been shown to benefit a range of chronic inflammatory conditions, making it especially relevant for managing lipoedema-related swelling and discomfort.

Fibre.

Fibre plays an active role in reducing systemic inflammation. Higher fibre intake has been linked to lower levels of C-reactive protein (CRP), a marker of inflammation that may be elevated in lipoedema. Specific types of fibre also feed gut bacteria that produce short-chain fatty acids, which help regulate the immune system and reduce inflammation at the cellular level. Antioxidants Lipoedema is associated with increased oxidative stress, which damages tissues and worsens inflammation. Antioxidants such as vitamin A and vitamin E help counteract this process by protecting cells and supporting immune function.

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fats are essential for dampening down inflammation and improving cell membrane function. In lipoedema, where fat tissue becomes inflamed and painful, omega-3s can help reduce the production of inflammatory chemicals and support lymphatic health. They may also help manage coexisting metabolic issues such as insulin resistance or low mood
