Quote Cycler

Overview

QuoteCycler is a lightweight, draggable on-chart panel that displays a rotating collection of curated trading quotes — paired with a tiny, living ecosystem of pixel-art bugs that wander, hunt, and interact with your mouse in real time.

It's part trading companion, part desktop pet, and part visual stress-relief for traders who spend long hours staring at charts.

Key Features

Rotating Quote Engine

• Loads quotes from multiple text files organized via a simple manifest.txt
• Supports 1,000+ quotes across different authors, sources, or themes
• Cycles automatically at a configurable interval (default: 60 seconds)
• Click the panel to advance to the next quote instantly
• Optional shuffle mode for random ordering, or sequential reading

Living Pixel-Art Ecosystem

A tiny civilization lives inside every panel:

• 🟢 Green Ant — curious wanderer, races for crumbs
• 🔴 Red Ant — faster than the green one, always hungry
• 🕷️ Purple Spider — slow but relentless predator that hunts the nearest ant
• 🪲 Brown Beetle — chill wanderer who minds its own business

Each bug has:

• Fading pheromone trails that mark where they've been
• Wiggling animated legs that move as they walk
• 2D directional movement — they turn to face wherever they're going
• Wall bouncing and 2D collision detection
• Reactive AI — ants flee from your mouse cursor!

Chat Bubbles

When two bugs collide, a tiny speech bubble pops up above them with a rotating symbol:

• ! — surprise
• * — impact
• ? — confusion

Bubbles are rate-limited so they don't spam.

Food Crumbs

A golden crumb randomly appears on the panel. The first ant to reach it:

• Eats the crumb
• Gets a speed boost for 3 seconds
• A new crumb spawns elsewhere

Candy

By using SHIFT + Left Mouse, you can put a candy wherever in the panel.

• The Red and Green ants will race towards it.
• Gets a speed boost
• If they can't get it will disappear a few seconds
