A Light Worth Keeping

By Silas Fenholt

The Long Grid — Book 3

Keeping the lights on is not the same as making a home.

Forty-six people arrive in Bellwether needing shelter just as the valley's fragile systems face another test. Water is dwindling, fuel is limited, and temporary arrangements are becoming a way of life.

Owen helps pursue a new water route while his son Eli makes sure the people behind the numbers are heard. But every repair carries a cost, and every promise must survive bad weather, exhaustion, and competing claims on what little remains.

As their family finds its way back together, a struggle over emergency authority threatens the trust Bellwether has fought to build. Surviving winter will require more than a working pump. It will require a community willing to share responsibility without giving up its freedom.

A Light Worth Keeping concludes The Long Grid, a survival-fiction trilogy about endurance, reconciliation, and promises small enough to keep.
