Yes, this is Crochet! Achieve the look and feel of a 2 colour knitted hat but in crochet. I love stranded/fair isle knitted hats and wanted crocheters to have the option to make fun colorwork hats too.


In 2022, I took a weekend trip to Sequim, Washington. I was inspired by all of the Lavender farms in the area. Despite being between Seattle and Forks, both notorious for rainy weather, the rainshadow from the Olympic Mountains gives Sequim the perfect dry conditions for lavender farming.

Difficulty: Intermediate – This hat requires getting gauge for fit and colorwork in an unusual stitch. Video tutorials are provided for stitches used and fair isle crochet methods, in both right and left handed.


Size: Fits an adult 22-23” head with a little slouch.

Finished size – 22.8” around and 8” tall.


Crochet Hooks:

G/4.mm for Body or size to achieve gauge.

E/3.5mm for Ribbing


Yarn: DK weight yarn.

Designed in Cascade BFL.


MC 170 yards/ 155 meters

CC 105 yards / 96 meters


Notions: Stitch markers, Tapestry Needle, and hat blocking materials.


Stitches Used: US terms. Chain, slip stitch, waistcoat stitch/knit stitch/split crochet stitch, and decreases.


Note, I am a left handed crocheter, so my example hat in photos leans differently.
