Ballroom Dance (Advance Creative Writing)
This advanced creative writing unit transforms your classroom into a professional publishing house where students collaboratively create a unified novel structured around a single central character who watches a series of dance performances, each inspiring a different narrative memory or vision. Drawing inspiration from ballroom and Latin dance styles, students will write individual chapters (5,000 words each) that connect meaningfully to the central character's life, revealing aspects of their past, present, relationships, and inner conflict. The unit emphasizes professional collaboration, unified character development, nonlinear storytelling, genre blending, and the translation of movement into narrative. A dedicated "Spectator Writer" maintains consistency for the central character across all chapters, while other writers contribute dance-inspired chapters that collectively reveal a deeper understanding of the character's journey.
