Driving to jobs and paying for your own supplies? A mileage log and 1099 expense tracker that keeps your miles and receipts ready for Schedule C.

The spreadsheet (Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice)

  • Trip Log (600 rows): date, vehicle, trip type (business, commuting or personal), from, to, purpose, odometer start and end or just the miles, plus business parking and tolls. Miles and the deduction calculate for every trip.
  • Your mileage rate: type in the IRS standard mileage rate for your tax year. There is an optional second rate in case the IRS changes it mid-year.
  • Expenses (500 rows): pick one of 22 trade-friendly categories and the Schedule C line number fills in. Meals count at 50%, and a business-use % handles mixed items like your phone.
  • Income (300 rows): every payment, with the 1099 form you expect (NEC, K, MISC or none) and totals to check against the 1099s you get in January.
  • Schedule C Summary: totals for lines 1 to 31, Part IV vehicle miles (44a to 44c), a flag for uncategorized expenses, and a standard mileage vs. actual expenses comparison.
  • Quarterly Taxes: income, expenses and net profit for each IRS payment period, a self-employment tax estimate, your set-aside, and what you've paid.
  • Annual Summary: month by month miles, income, expenses and profit, with a chart.

The printable PDF (8 pages)
