Kindle Unlimited vs Wide: Making an Informed Choice
"Should I publish in Kindle Unlimited and be exclusive to Amazon or should I publish my book wide and be everywhere?"
New authors asking themselves how they should publish their book, or more experienced authors asking themselves if they made the wrong choice or if they should try and find a way to do both, are often making their choices without all the information. There's often strong feelings for both sides - you'll hear that you "have" to do one or the other in order to have the success that you want.
I have two pen names - one which is 99% wide and the other which is 100% in Kindle Unlimited. My wide name, Golden Angel, is a six-figure (net) pen name and my Kindle Unlimited pen name, Sinistre Ange, is a five-figure (net) pen name. I love having both because it means I can keep my pulse on what's going on with wide publishing AND what's going on with Kindle Unlimited publishing.
Both have their upsides and their downsides. Both have advantages and disadvantages. I truly believe that neither is the all encompassing right way to publish your books, but there might be a right way for you.
A lot of authors make the decision of wide vs ku out of fear, out of misinformation, from misconceptions, or because someone else told them it's what they 'should' do. With this presentation, I aim to dispell the misinformation, to break down the differences (everything from mindset to the algorithms to the marketing tactics), and give authors information to make informed choices for themselves.
I want to help you answer the question - What is the best choice for me?
