Pilgrimage Made Simple

The journey itself is worship.

Pilgrimage — the songs of ascent for the road to God's presence (Psalm 122:1; Hebrews 11:13-16).

You are on a road. From the day you first believed, everything in your life has been a journey — sometimes a climb, sometimes a crawl — toward a city you have never seen. That is what the Christian life is. Not a classroom. Not a courtroom. A pilgrimage.

Three times a year, the people of God left their homes and walked to Jerusalem, singing the Psalms of Ascent — fifteen short psalms (Psalms 120-134) sung one step at a time up the mountain road. They sang about danger on the road and help from above, about tears and joy, about night watches and morning mercies. They sang because the journey itself was worship.

This book walks the road with you — Bible-first, explicitly Trinitarian: God the Father who planned the route, Jesus Christ the Son (Lord and Savior, Son of God and Son of Man) who walked it first and walks it with you, and the Holy Spirit who fills your lungs with the songs for the climb.
