Tottenham's 'Van de Ben effect' aims to add Danish national university center back who is also aiming for Arsenal's 'winning trophy'

Citing Turkiye "Aksam," Britain's Daily Mail said on the 1st (Korea Standard Time) that Denmark's national center back Viktor Nelsson (25, Galatasaray) could be recruited through the winter transfer market in January next year.

Tottenham, newly led by coach Angie Postecoglou, has partially reorganized its defense this season. It has succeeded by recruiting van der Ben, who played for Wolfsburg (Germany), and pairing him with Christian Romero (25), instead of Eric Dier (29).

Tottenham have scored 22 goals and conceded nine in 10 games this season. They are tied for third place in the league with Liverpool after Manchester City (seven runs) and Arsenal (eight runs). He gave up 63 points in 38 games last season, which is incomparable to his 15th-place position from behind.

Tottenham will recruit Nelsson to add another defensive option and continue its move to win the league. Tottenham leads the Premier League alone this season with eight wins and two draws, unaware of their defeat.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand also said, "Romero and Van der Ben are currently the best combination of form in the Premier League's central defense. I have praised him, saying, "That's amazing."

Tottenham is expected to actively use Dyer, a bench resource, in their contracts. This is because if Nelsson joins, he can give Van der Ben and Romeo alternately to prepare for injury.

Nelsson is virtually confirmed to break up with Galatasaray this winter. Nelsson, who joined Galatasaray in the summer of 2021, signed a five-year contract. However, he is preparing to break up without signing the re-contract presented by Galatasaray this season.

Nelsson's ransom is not high either. The market value is estimated at 19 million euros (about 27.3 billion won). Tottenham believes it can recruit Nelsson for 15 million to 20 million euros (about 21.5 billion to 28.7 billion won).

Like Van der Ben, Nelsson is known for his good speed and interpersonal defense. In addition, it is evaluated that the foot skills that can actively participate in the competition for aerial balls, the build-up, the long pass that sprays forward, and the left and right switching pass are impressive.

The problem is that Tottenham is not the only team aiming for Nelsson. Tottenham and North London rival Arsenal also want Nelsson. Ajax (the Netherlands) is also showing interest.

I wonder if Tottenham will be able to reinforce Nelsson and add options at the back. If the defense becomes more stable, Tottenham's offensive line, centered on Son Heung-min and James Madison, is likely to spark more fire, drawing keen attention to the winter market
