A sea ahead. Help along the way.

What can we do when the next step feels difficult?

Moses and the people have left slavery in Egypt, but now a sea lies ahead and Pharaoh’s army is coming after them. A windy night reveals a dry path through the water, and the families cross towards freedom.

In a separate present-day story, Eli feels nervous about a small bridge in the park. Mum listens, offers her hand and helps him choose a safe next step.

Moses and the Path Through the Sea is Book 19 in Little Bible Explorers by Steve Lewis, an illustrated Bible retelling for children aged 3–8, designed for reading with a grown-up.

READING INFORMATION

The PDF preserves the square 8 × 8 inch layout and has selectable, searchable text. The EPUB requires a reader supporting EPUB 3 fixed-layout books. Its text does not reflow or resize independently of the pictures. Complete page wording is included in image descriptions, and the contents links to every page. Tablets, computers and colour e-readers are best suited to these illustrated editions.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Children aged 3–8 with parents, carers or teachers who have read the grown-up notes first. Share during family Bible reading, home learning or carefully guided Sunday school. Younger children can explore the pictures, while older children can discuss the questions and read the Bible passage with an adult.

A NOTE FOR GROWN-UPS

Please read Exodus 14 and the book’s grown-up notes before sharing. The full account describes slavery, pursuit, fear and the drowning of the Egyptian army. This short retelling acknowledges that the soldiers died, without describing or illustrating their deaths. It simplifies dialogue and omits some details; the notes explain these choices. It does not replace reading the full Bible account.

Welcome sadness, relief and questions. Do not mock the people who died or treat death as a cheerful game. Pause if your child is distressed. Eli’s bridge is a small practice in asking for support, not an equivalent experience to fleeing slavery.

This rescue is a particular event in the Bible account, not a promise that every danger will disappear. Children must never enter water or an unsafe place to test faith. The activities stay on paper or use simple conversation; grown-ups make safety decisions.

Bible focus: Exodus 14, read in its wider context. Eli, Maya and Mum are fictional present-day characters. Ancient clothes, the crossing location and settings are artistic interpretations. Illustrations were created with AI assistance and reviewed for this edition.
