ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS OF NARRATIVE WRITING

When you are asked to write a short story, or you recount a sequence of events while you indulge in "creative writing", you are doing what is called "Narrative Writing." It is meant to entertain as it appeals to varied emotions; it describes as well as it explains; it conveys a message or a sequence of messages/themes/ideas while it narrates. Plotline/ sequencing of events is central to a narrative. It may have a conclusive ending or maybe open-ended...a cliffhanger!
