This is a pattern for a triangle shawl worked flat. Though this is triangular in shape, it uses traditional Shetland Lace stitches, including only the use of k2tog for decreases and knitting on WS rows. There are two sizes for this shawl, shawl A & shawl B, plus an Extension option (if you have enough yarn - the extension uses approximately 45g).

The weight of Azalea’s yarn kit is heavier than lace and light fingering, and our shawls will be a more rustic homespun shawl and will not be a fine lace shawl, very Outlander!

You may use any yarn you like, but changing the weight of the yarn, gauge, and/or your knitting style may change the approximate yarn amounts.

yarn:

Azalea’s Light Fingering Weight by 5 Sisters Farm; Light Fingering; 100% Shetland; 475yds (434m) / 100g / 4oz

approximate yarn amounts:

shawl A - 4oz; 100g

shawl B - 8oz; 200g

Depending on your knitting style, you should have enough yarn to work the Extension chart, if you prefer, with the 200g/ 8oz kit.

needles:

4.0mm (us no 6) circular

gauge:

13 sts x 25 rows = 4in/10cm on 4.0mm needles over Garter Stitch

Slight differences in gauge are not a problem with this project.

approximate finished size:

31 (39) in / 79 (99) cm (depth) x 56 (94) in / 142 (238) cm (top width)

additional tools:

needle to weave in ends, stitch markers (at least 2 in different colours)
