Pay What Works: In an effort to find a balance between more financial accessibility and sustainable pricing, I now offer a “Pay What Works” model. This allows for financial flexibility while still valuing and respecting the work and energy I and others provide in the making of this pattern. The price shown on Ravelry is the “true” value of the pattern that best reflects the work put into creating this design.
To purchase the pattern at a price point that is more accessible to you, use the coupon code at checkout listed next to the price point. The prices indicate the price you will pay, not the discount amount. No coupon code is needed for the highest price point.

Iraira is Maori for “variegated”, reflecting the usage of variegated yarn in this design. Two skeins of yarn are used: one in a solid color and one in a variegated color. This shawl is worked with increases and decreases to shape it into the asymmetrical triangular shape. Lots of garter stitch, but the pattern is kept interesting with the usage of stripes and slip stitches at different pointsof the pattern. The shawl is bound-off using the picot bind off for a nice, subtle touch.
Yarns used in project:
1 Skein of Swans Island Natural Colors Collection (Wheat). (This is the solid color and MC yarn)
1 Skein of Fibernymph Dye Works Sunshine (Sea Nymph). (This is the variegated color and CC yarn)
Yardage:
500 yards of fingering weight solid color as MC
200 yards of fingering weight variegated color as CC
Needle: Size 5 (3.75mm), 32” (80mm) circular needle
Gauge: 6 sts over 1inch/4cm, 14 rows over 1inch/4cm in garter stitch. Gauge is not critical to this project but different gauges will effect how much yarn you use.
Special Techniques/Stitches: Sliped stitches, picot bind-off. Basic increases (kfb) and decreases (k2tog).
