Each month includes several print-and-go Draw and Write pages with step-by-step directed drawing visuals, an illustration space tied to the prompt, paragraph-writing prompts (not sentence frames), and space for planning, drafting and writing. Holiday themes include back to school, Halloween, Thanksgiving, winter holidays, spring and end-of-year reflection, and they focus on creativity and storytelling rather than candy or gifts.

HOW TO USE IT

Use the pages during your writing block, for morning work, literacy centers, early finishers, sub plans, small-group writing support and homeschool language arts. Use pages on their own or compile each month into a student writing journal.

Students use directed drawing as a pre-writing strategy, then write paragraphs with a beginning, middle and end, add details and elaboration, organize their ideas and build vocabulary through themed prompts.
