The Environment Vocabulary (B1) – Ranking Task

A ready-to-print B1 vocabulary activity sheet on the environment, with a speaking game to finish: Ranking Task.

The 14 words and phrases: recycle, reuse, waste, cut down on, pollution, climate change, litter, single-use plastic, endangered species, carbon footprint, public transport, renewable energy, energy-efficient, compost.

The sheet follows a simple plan:

• Page 1, learn the words: match words to definitions, sort them into groups, test a partner with the useful phrases, then a quick practice.
• Page 2, use the words: a short text to complete, then the speaking game (Ranking Task) and a word check from memory.
• Page 3, teacher's notes: aim, timings, easier and harder options, an online tip and a full answer key.

Works on its own (35–45 minutes): as a vocabulary lesson, before or after any lesson on the same topic, as revision or as a cover lesson. Print, project or screen-share for online classes.
