Christmas Writing Task Cards, Writing Prompt Cards
These Christmas Writing Task Cards give your students 40 themed writing prompts to keep them festive and busy before winter break. The set includes story starters, informational writing prompts, opinion writing prompts and narrative writing prompts.
Each card has a single task, so students don't feel overwhelmed. They can do one card or work through them all, and because the cards can be used again and again, you are not photocopying a stack of worksheets. All of the cards are hand drawn and in greyscale to save on color ink.
WHAT TEACHERS ARE SAYING
★★★★★ “Thanks for providing this great resource when I was in a pinch for my writing center! You can use this resource in many different ways. Thank you!” Kaitlyn C.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
- 40 Christmas writing task cards, hand drawn in greyscale
- Card types: writing prompts, story starters, informational, opinion and narrative prompts
HOW TO USE IT
Prep the cards in the way that suits you best. Laminate them for long-lasting use, put them in a bin, jar, basket or baggie so students can choose a card on their own, or hole-punch a corner and put them on a ring to work through one at a time as a class.
Use the cards as prompts for the whole class or give different cards to individual students. They work as assignments, writing centers, group work (give each group a different card and share the work later) and fast finisher activities. Offering a choice of cards lets students write about something they care about.
