A fantastic collection of 20 progressive concert etudes by Phil Snedecor, written to explore just how versatile the euphonium can be. There’s a great mix of lyrical and technical playing here, with studies that move all over the instrument and really challenge flexibility, control, musicality and technique.

I particularly wanted to stock this edition because it is written in TREBLE CLEF. That makes it absolutely ideal not only for euphonium players, but also for Eb Bass and Bb Bass players in the British brass band tradition who want some proper, challenging study material without having to read bass clef.

As with Snedecor’s tuba books, these aren’t dry exercises. They feel like proper pieces of music and are genuinely fun to get stuck into, while still pushing the areas of your playing that need work.

For me, this is a brilliant option for any treble-clef low brass player wanting something more substantial than a standard method book.

If you are a tuba player who reads bass clef, have a look at Snedecor’s Low Etudes and Low(er) Etudes too — both are also available in the shop.
