Cheers! Mitts
Cheers! is a pair of fingerless mitts knitted in the round. It was part of one of four patterns first published as a Colour to Knit Club then in the eBook KNITSONIK & Friends: Colour to Knit, which focus on enabling you to choose your own colourway with fun and useful process!
For the Cheers! mitts the goal is to pair a skein of variegated yarn with four matching solid shades, emphasising your favourite shades in the variegated yarn. Choosing your solid shades enables you to more deeply appreciate the work of the dyer, while also adding your own twist to their colourway.
Stranded colourwork is combined with knit-and-purl stitches to create asymmetric textured triangles on a variegated background. This fabric creates an illusion of diagonal spirals representing the fluidity and colours of a drink.
Cheers! is published with inspiring notes and printable worksheets to colour-in as an aid to deciding which yarn shades to use. The creative process behind the design is offered alongside the pattern instructions to enable and encourage you to adapt this design for mixing your own yarny cocktails, should you so wish. If you have never used variegated yarn for stranded colourwork, Cheers! offers a really inviting and accessible starting point.
