REDEEMED – Let the Redeemed Say So by Bro H
“Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, and gathered out of the lands— from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.” [Verse 1] What is redeemed was owned before, A treasure lost, a captive bound; The law appointed one of kin To pay the price and bring him home. “If one of his brothers may redeem him,” The ancient statute plainly said; No stranger had the lawful claim, A brother had to pay the debt. For Israel belonged to the Lord, The people He had called His own; Though sold beneath a foreigner’s hand, His covenant claim was never gone. [Pre-Chorus] “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine,” declared the Father— And His promise stands the same. [Chorus] Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! The Kinsman came and paid the price; Not silver, gold, or fading treasure, But the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! The lost possession has been found; The chains are broken, debt is canceled, And the captive is unbound. He paid the ransom once for all, He covered Israel’s shame; Let the redeemed of the Lord say so— And magnify His name! [Verse 2] He did not take the form of angels; He took on Him the seed of Abraham, Made like His brothers in all things, The spotless and sufficient Lamb. Born of a woman, born beneath The law given to Israel alone; He came as Judah’s promised Son, The heir to David’s royal throne. The High Priest entered once for all, Alone beyond the crimson veil; Not with the blood of goats and calves— His own blood made the ransom price. Eternal redemption He obtained; The price can never be surpassed. The covenant oath sworn to the fathers Was fulfilled in Christ at last. He bought His people back forever, He covered Israel’s shame; Let the redeemed of the Lord say so— And magnify His name! [Verse 3] At Bethlehem beneath the stars, He spread his covering in the night; Then at the gate the elders gathered— A sandal sealed the kinsman’s right. Boaz redeemed the land and widow; The family’s claim was now restored. The dead husband’s name remained in Israel; The near kinsman kept his word. But Boaz was a living shadow Of the greater One to come: The Husband and the strong Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel. He did not pay and then abandon The bride who wandered far away; He came to heal the broken marriage And bring His scattered wife again. [Bridge] “You were not My people”— Now called sons of the living God. “I will betroth you to Me forever”— The scattered wife is reclaimed. “For your Maker is your husband”— The Lord of hosts is His name. “And your Redeemer, Israel’s Holy One”— Yesterday, today, the same! [Verse 4] The wife has made herself now ready, Arrayed in linen clean and white; The twelve gates shine as twelve great pearls, New Jerusalem descends in light. The city comes from God to earth; The bride receives her inheritance. The purchased people stand before Him, Restored in covenant righteousness. From every land the tribes are gathered, The blind awake, the lost recall; The Shepherd knows His scattered sheep, And still He calls them each by name. The merchant found one pearl of value, Sold all He had and bought His own; The Kinsman takes His bride in glory, And reigns upon King David’s throne. [Final Chorus] Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! The Kinsman came and paid the price; Not silver, gold, or fading treasure, But the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! Let Israel awaken and proclaim: The Father has not forsaken His people, And His covenant stands the same! The bride is clothed, the land restored, The King has come to reign; Let the redeemed of the Lord say so— And magnify His name! [Outro] He has sent redemption to His people; He has ordained His covenant forever. Let the redeemed— Let the redeemed— Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.
