Including Prodigal Improvisation
A collection of three short plays for churches. This includes Prodigal Improvisation as shown on the Friends of the Groom Theater Company's Online Resource Center. The other two plays are: The First Parish Meeting of the Church of Jerusalem and The Royal Visit.
In "The First Parish Meeting of the Church of Jerusalem," the story of Pentecost is retold as though it were happening in the middle of a bland contemporary church business meeting. ($15 Performance Royalty/performance)
In "The Royal Visit," a delegation of people rehearsing for the arrival of a highly exalted king miss him when he comes in the back door as a servant. Only the character of Blind Bartimaeus notices his coming. Great scene for youth groups. ($15 Performance Royalty/performance)
"Prodigal Improvisation" retells the well-known parable with audience participation and a volunteer "set crew" who make all the necessary scenery with their bodies. (No Performance Royalty needed.)
