Seville, The Jewel of Andalusia — A Travel Guide to the City
Written by a sevillano who was born here and still lives here.
I am Eduardo Ballesteros. I did not spend a weekend in Seville and write a guide about it — I have lived in this city my whole life, and this is the guide I hand to a friend who tells me they are coming.
That is the difference you are paying for. There are plenty of lists of Seville's monuments on the internet, and most of them are the same list. What you will not find in them is someone telling you which of the two entrances to use, what to skip, what time of day the place is worth it, and what is around the corner that nobody sends you to. In this guide almost every place — every monument, museum, church, palace, market and day trip — closes with my own notes: "Info & Tips" boxes across 95 pages, written in the first person, because they are my opinion and not a press release.
It opens with a chapter I called "What I would tell a friend": the heat and how to plan around it, why August is half shut, what Holy Week and the Feria really mean for your week, why you do not have to sleep next to the Cathedral, what to book before you fly, and why you should leave the car at home. Then a ready-made route for your first days, laid out so you can follow it or take it apart, with walking times between each stop.
