BIG DICKEY ENERGY!

This, let’s be clear, dickey, is an easily customized accessory that I designed specifically because I am completely incapable of wearing a shawl with a coat. It just comes unraveled, bunches up and generally refuses to cooperate. So here we are.

CONSTRUCTION: Worked seamlessly from the top down, starting with the collar. The yoke is worked in the round to the top of the shoulders, then front and back are worked flat separately.

SIZES: S (M, L); yoke circumference at widest point is 40 (44, 48)”/102 (112, 122) cm

This pattern is easily worked to your exact size—simply continue increasing the yoke until it drapes just over the tops of your shoulders. Do consider steam blocking before trying on to get a better idea of the final dimensions.

YARN: Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino, 100% Merino wool, 136 yd/2 oz (124 m/50 g): 3 (4, 5) balls in Dusty Petroleum Blue, or approximately 400 (440, 500) yd/370 (400, 460) m worsted weight yarn

GAUGE: 18 sts and 26 rows= 4”/10 cm in Mock Rib

Gauge is not essential for this pattern as you can try your collar on to get it exactly the right size; however, swatching will be helpful to ensure you like the drape and airiness of the fabric.
