DESCRIPTION
The final stage of the Camino Frances is an evocative and heart warming walk
through the Spanish region of Galicia - an autonomous region of Spain with its own
special culture and language of Galego (although Spanish is widely understood).
Our daily walks take us through beautiful rural landscapes and ancient villages and
past Romanesque chapels and magnificent churches.
Every day you will share the trail with fellow pilgrims from around Spain, Europe
and even further afield, and inevitably, you will soon find yourself imbued with the
unique and magical spirit that pervades the entire ‘Camino de Santiago’ experience.
Credencial: The Pilgrim's Passport
Also known as The Pilgrim's Passport, the Credencial is a document which pilgrims
on the Camino carry throughout their walk. Broadly speaking, it is a successor of
the medieval safe conducts issued to pilgrims.
The credential is stamped in each town along your route and provides a record of
the places where you stayed.
Compostela: The Pilgrim's Certificate
The Compostela is the certificate of accomplishment given to pilgrims on completing
at least the final 100kms of the Way of St James. The Santiago de Compostela
Cathedral has been issuing the pilgrimage indulgence since the Middle Ages.
Once you have made it all the way to the St James Cathedral, you will present your
stamped credential at the Pilgrim's Office.
Santiago de Compostela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Galicia's capital city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985, Santiago de
Compostela is the destination of the Way of St James pilgrimage, one of the major
themes of medieval history in Europe.
From all around the globe to the Mediterranean, millions have walked to Santiago along
many Caminos..
