Estereotípico (Mallet Trio)

• 2 Marimbas (4-octave)
• Vibraphone

Estereotípico is a mallet trio composed by Christopher Mesa. The title translates to “stereotypical.” This title was chosen because the composition has a very typical sound as it borrows from the Spanish flamenco style. This piece centers in the key of E Phrygian. Much of the harmony is repeated throughout the piece. However, it is the rhythm which makes the harmony stay interesting through the use of accented syncopated rhythms.
